Sky Is The Limit - Nicho de Cliche #3
Sky Is The Limit - Nicho de Cliche #3
The Nicho de Cliche series uses Mexican punched tin dioramas to frame small beaded embroidery artworks, each featuring a different cliche. By showcasing these often used, ubiquitous phrases inside of alters, they are elevated to something nearly sacrosanct.
#3 in the series is “Sky Is The Limit.” Rumor has it this phrase traces back to Don Quixote as its origin, but that is hotly debated. It owes a great deal of its popularity to the dawn of the airplane and humanity’s ability to reach previously unfathomable new heights. I placed this phrase inside of a crucifix to give it a heavenly spin.
