Art Nouveau Pendant
The swoops and swirls of fine silver encapsulating the fused dichroic fused glass cabochon sing of romance, doesn’t it? I just swoon when I look at it. It’s like a dance. You can feel the swirling skirt during a turn on the dance floor, taste the rhythm in the air, keep time with the beating of you heart. It’s all of these things wrapped into one gorgeous pendant.
This pendant was hand made by me by fusing dichroic glass and surrounded in fine silver made from precious metal clay. The glass is a milky white with flecks of iridescent silver.
More about the silver clay process... Silver clay is composed of fine or sterling silver mixed with an organic compound that, once fired, burns away the binding compound in the kiln and leaves nothing but the precious metal behind. It’s an incredible process that gives me the feeling of being an alchemist. Clay to metal - it’s like magic.
The pendant measures 2.5”x.75”x.4” and hangs on a 24” sterling silver snake chain that fastens with a lobster claw clasp.
