Lillian Gish Earrings
Lillian Gish Earrings
The 1920s and the actress, director, and screenwriter Lillian Gish were the inspiration for these sparkly darlings. Gish has been called the “First Lady of American Cinema” for her formative and influential techniques developed during her illustrious 75 year career.
These earrings are created using glass beads, sterling silver findings, and fine silver charms I have hand formed from precious metal clay. Both sides of the charm are textured to create visual interest any way you turn.
Precious metal clay is fine metal in clay form that is pliable and impressionable. Once fired in a kiln, the organic compound that bound the particles together is fired away, leaving only the fine silver behind. This process allows me the freedom to cut, shape, mold, and impress the metal to my liking. When I place dried clay into the kiln, then open the door to reveal fine silver in its place it feels like I’ve achieved alchemy!
