Monks Hut Room (Southbridge, Lower)
Monks Hut Room (Southbridge, Lower)
The Monks Hut Room is located on the lower level of the Southbridge House. It is 1 of 4 bedrooms on this floor, which shares 1 full bathroom. Upstairs has 2 full baths, 1 half bath, a full kitchen, living room, and dining room.
This room is offered at a reduced rate because it’s smaller than any of the other bedrooms. It is tucked away under the stairs in a manner reminiscent of Harry Potter living with the Dursleys. It is really very charming and cozy, with 1 twin bed.
Southbridge is the farthest building from the Community Center, but is still an easy walk down a level, private road that is gravel. The upper level of Southbridge is the best place to stay for anyone with mobility or accessibility special needs. The house is accessible via ramp, and these upper 3 bedrooms and bathrooms do not require steps. The lower level of Southbridge does require a flight of steps.
This listing is for private accomodations for the weekend of October 11-14, 2024, Friday afternoon through Monday afternoon. Included are 6 chef-prepared meals and access to all workshops. Have any dietary or other requests? Let us know in the “request” field during check out. We will do everything we can to meet your needs. All rooms are fully furnished, including bedding and towels.
Why 6 meals instead of 8? We listened to our previous campers’ feedback and made a change to the dining schedule: instead of 3 meals a day we now have 2; a daily brunch from 10:30am-11:30am and dinner from 6:00-7:00pm. This allows those who’d like to sleep in to not miss out on any of the paid meals. Each residence area has its own kitchen, so anyone who is an early bird and wants breakfast should supply their own. We found most of our campers prefer to stay up late, working on projects and talking, so we will have a snack table available for those with nighttime munchies.
Wi-Fi access is available in the community building.
Please read the event cancellation and media disclaimer information on the Policies + Procedures page before submitting your registration. Your completed camp abbydid registration will signify you have read, understand, and agree to compliance with all policies and procedures as stated.
From Oakwood’s website:
Our guest lodging is exceptionally clean, well-kept, neat and comfortable. Each guest room is uniquely decorated with a country vintage flare. Shared rooms and baths are the norm. Most guest areas have full kitchens.
Only tried and true non-toxic household cleansers and pest control products are used. Air quality is constantly monitored for safety and comfort. Although Oakwood is not a fully wheelchair accessible facility, there are exterior ramps and a wheelchair accessible house with an ADA accessible bathroom.
In addition to hosting retreat groups we also host individuals who are interested in private retreat and or a family retreat such as a family reunion.
And then we feed you; do we ever. The most heard comment about meals here is “I wish I would eat like this at home.” The Oakwood residents who staff our kitchen prepare balanced, wholesome meals with exquisite care and in the awareness that truly, each meal is “Love made Chewable”. A portion of what you will eat here is grown by friends on their nearby farms. Dietary needs of most descriptions are routinely accommodated. Menu options are based in collaboration with the leaders of each retreat group.
